Physician Profile

Amir R. Nasir, M.D.

Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery

Dr. Nasir grew up in a small town in upstate New York and studied optical engineering in college. He worked as an engineer for several years before joining the Peace Corps and moving to West Africa for two years to work on the Guinea Worm Eradication Project. His experience in West Africa inspired him to earn a degree in public health and tropical medicine from Tulane University and later an M.D. from the University of Kansas.

Dr. Nasir was one of a handful of young doctors in the United States selected for the six-year integrated plastic surgery residency at the University of Kansas. Following his training there, Dr. Nasir elected to do a fellowship in aesthetics and reconstructive surgery at Boston University.

Upon completion of his training, he worked for several years at a level 1 trauma center in New York state before moving to Connecticut with his family and joining UConn Health.
